 ಗೊಜ್ಜವಲಕ್ಕಿ /gojjavalakki

Method 1: Revathy Shrikanth

Ingredients

  • Avalakki thick variety 1 cup ground coursely 
  • Jaggery - small lemon size 
  • tamarind water 1/4 cup
  • Rasam powder - 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • water 1/2 cup

For seasoning

  • oil 4 tsp
  • mustard seeds 1tsp
  • Channa dal 1tsp
  • urad dal 1tsp
  • curry leaves
  • ground nuts 2tsp
  • hing one pinch
  • Grated coconut 1/4 cup

For garnishing

  • chopped coriander leaves

Method

  • Mix bella, tamarind juice, water, rasam powder, salt, chilli powder.
  • Add the coursely ground avalakki and keep it aside till it absords all the water. This mixture can be tasted to adjust the Uppu/huli/kaara.
  • Heat oil in kadai and add the seasonings one by one. Add grated coconut and mix well. Add the avalakki mixture. Mix well and heat it till its little hot. 
  • Garnish it with coriander. 
  • Optional: We can add roasted and powdered sesame seed powder and dry coconut .
